Pakistan dismissed India for 119 runs but Jasprit Bumrah led the way as Rohit Sharma’s side won the match by six runs.
A fiery Jasprit Bumrah, backed ably by Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh, helped India pull off a stunning win over arch-rivals Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup at the Nassau County Stadium on Sunday. India were all out for just 119 runs but they managed to beat Pakistan by six runs despite the latter cruising halfway through their chase. (PTI)
The match was plagued by rain delays in the beginning, with toss being delayed by half an hour and the match going on to be delayed by just under an hour. There was another rain delay after Rohit Sharma scored eight runs in the first over. (AP)
India got off to a shaky start in their innings with Virat Kohli falling to Naseem Shah in the second over and Rohit falling to Shaheen Afridi in the third. (ICC- X)

Pakistan roared back in the death overs though, eventually not allowing India to bat out 20 overs. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf were the standout bowlers, both recording figures of 3/21 in four and three overs respectively. Mohammad Amir returned 2/23 while Shaheen Afridi recorded 1/29. (ANI)
Babar Azam fell to Jasprit Bumrah early on but Mohammad Rizwan managed to steady things for Pakistan with a 31-run stand for the second wicket. (AP)
Axar Patel ended the stand in the 11th over by sending back Usman and India swooped in from there. (AP)
The big turning point came in the 15th over when Bumrah sent back Rizwan for 31 off 44. India never let go of their vice grip from there and squeezed the Pakistan batters to the point that it came down to them needing 18 to win off the last over bowler by Arshdeep Singh. Pakistan ended up being restricted to a score of 113/7 and India thus recorded a second consecutive win in the tournament. (REUTERS)
